Coming from a background in theatre, Lara Pulver entered the world of Sherlock to play the most iconic female role in the entirety of Arthur Conan Doyle's original canon.

Studying at the National Youth Music Theatre and then the independent and renowned Bird College of Dance, Music & Theatre Performance, Lara graduated in 2000.

She appeared extensively in West End musicals, including Grease, Chicago, High Society, Miss Saigon and Parade, for which she received an Olivier Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical in 2008.

In 2009 Lara began the move into Television, appearing first in the third series of the BBC's 'Robin Hood', before heading to America for her most recognisable role in HBO's 'True Blood', appearing as Sookie Stackhouse's fairy Godmother Claudine.

In 2011, she returned to the UK and appeared as lead field agent Erin Watts for the entirety of the tenth, and final, series of BBC spy drama 'Spooks', before appearing as Irene Adler in 'Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia'.

2013 will see Lara have a starring role in 'Da VInci's Demons', an ambitious fantasy historic drama about the life of the legendary artist created by David S Goyer, the writer of the Blade trilogy and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. She will also appear in 'Fleming', a biographical drama of the life of the creator of James Bond, starring opposite Dominic West in the title role.
