Tanya Moodie trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and as well as acting on television and stage she holds a teaching position at the Academy, tutoring young actors.

Tanya first appeared onscreen in the supernatural situation comedy 'So Haunt Me' in 1994. She followed this with a starring role as Hunter in 'Neverwhere' (1996), a fantasy series written by the author Neil Gaiman, which he refined and turned into a novel after the series was broadcast. She featured in guest roles in series including 'The Bill', 'In Deep', 'Prime Suspect 6' (2003), 'Absolute Power' (2003), 'Sea of Souls' (2007), 'Silent Witness' (2007, 'Casualty' (2008) and Jimmy McGovern's award winning 'The Street' (2009). Between 2008 and 2009 she appeared in a regular role in Irish medical drama 'The Clinic.'

Tanya has played the role of John Watson's therapist Ella Thompson three times in Sherlock - in the original Pilot episode, in 'A Study in Pink' in Series One, and in the Series Two finale 'The Reichenbach Fall.'

On stage, Tanya's credits include performances with The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Court Theatre, and The National Theatre.
