A critical clue in Sherlock's investigation at St. Aldate's Boarding School is Max Bruhl's cricket bat. It's a Slazenger V200, designed specifically for younger players of the sport. Made from willow with a cane handle, the shape of the bat favours attacking rather than defensive play.

Slazenger is a British sporting brand institution, established in 1881. The company logo features a leaping black panther, suggesting grace and flow of movement. It is notable that the largest version of the logo has been removed from the back of the cricket bat you see onscreen, though the outline of it remains visible.
